Frankincense
is a resinous tree sap that comes from trees of the Genus Boswellia. Boswellia sacra can seem to grow out
of pure rock in very unforgiving environments. These trees are native to areas
of Oman, Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Kenya. Frankincense is also
known as Olibanum, which most often refers to the extracted essential oil.
Frankincense
has so many wonderful benefits and ongoing research seems to keep discovering
more and more miraculous properties of this ancient natural substance. It has long been used in religious practices
because it has real spiritual benefits.
It has been used spiritually to protect people and purify spaces and
objects of unwanted negative energies or spirits, it can help to focus
spiritual consciousness, increase transcendental awareness and help one to
integrate with their own higher self.
Studies have
shown that it acts like a psychoactive drug on certain pathways in the brain
that regulate chemical balances and can effectively treat depressive disorders,
anxiety, and nervousness. Frankincense
provides a sense of calm and centeredness.
It is very good for meditative practices because it helps to quiet the
mind, promote mental stillness and clarity.
